I did a quick survey of people who had thought about a retreat but had never taken one. I asked what had stopped them.
In Module 1 we’ll learn about Noah and the effort he put into his worship.
In Module 2 we’ll look at King David and see what a critical role confession plays in worship.
In Module 3 Elijah will show us how necessary sacrifice is to worship
In Module 4 we’ll examine Hannah’s prayer and consider how petition fits in with worship
In Module 5 Mary’s Magnificat shows us the heights of praise when God’s promises are fulfilled
In Module 6 Deborah will teach us how important it is to praise God for our victories
In Module 7 you’ll have the chance to begin applying some of the things you’ve learned
7 modules including Bible Study and Worship sessions

To put it simply…
I'm confused. It's a retreat but we're not going anywhere?
Right. BUILD THE ALTAR is a virtual retreat. That means everything is done on your computer or another device. You’ll watch the videos and then spend some time on your own with the worksheets. Honestly, that time is when the real learning takes place.
How many videos are there?
There’s an intro video, then two videos in each of the first six modules. Module 7 only has one video. That’s 14 total.
Are the videos long?
Most of them are less than twenty minutes.
So how long will this retreat thing take?
That’s up to you. When I led it with a small group, we did it in a weekend. You can do it over a weekend or several days. You could do a module a week. I suppose you could binge watch the videos too. It’s your retreat. Do it at your speed.
And there aren't any books, CDs, or DVDs?
No. Everything is digital. You are welcome to print out worksheets. You can save the mp3 to your player. You can burn them onto a CD. That part is up to you.
What if I decide I want my money back?
As long as it’s within 30 days of purchase, email us at email@example.com and we will get you a full refund. But it has to be within 30 days.
What if I sign up for the retreat but it's a couple of months before I check it out? What if I decide I don't like it?
The 30 days starts from the date of purchase, not the date you access the material.
What if I disagree with you or some of the teaching?
My goal is to is point people to God so they can encounter Him and experience His glory. If you come across something you disagree with, I hope you can keep that stated goal in mind and show me a little grace.
Will you help me answer the questions?
No. The Holy Spirit, however, will. He’s much better at it anyway.
What if I go through all this and I don't learn anything?
If it’s within 30 days of signing up, we’ll get you a refund.
Are you qualified to teach this stuff?
If 20+ years teaching kids, teens, and adults, and leading retreats for 10 of those years qualifies me, then yes.
I don’t have a degree from a seminary or a Bible college if that’s what you’re asking. I think that works in my favor though. That way you know you don’t need a Bible college or seminary degree either.
What do I do if I have other questions?
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What's keeping me from enrolling as an individual and sharing all the content with my small group?
Nothing I guess, except your conscience. I’m trusting that if you’re going to lead a group studying worship … you’re not going to lie about how you’re using the materials.
What if my small group has more than 10 people in it?
Well, I suppose you could cheat and make extra copies, but I’d prefer if a second person in your group enrolled as a small group to cover the extra people.
What if I enroll as an individual but decide later that I want to go through this with my small group?
Then I have a question … Do you want to KEEP your lifetime individual access and ADD the small group enrollment OR do you want to CONVERT to a 1-year small group enrollment?
Either way, email us email@example.com and we’ll give you the details.
What if my group and I don't get through the study in a year?
Things can happen. I get that. Email us (firstname.lastname@example.org). We can work something out.
